My newest found resource on combat PTSD was introduced to me by Tom Howe one of our IDVC founding members and a great promoter of the Veterans and Military Families for Progress (VMFP). Ilona Meagher is the author of Moving a Nation to Care: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and America's Returning Troops. Check out Ilona PTSD Blog - http://ptsdcombat.blogspot.com/

"NEVER SHALL ONE GENERATION OF VETERANS ABANDON ANOTHER!

The willingness with which young people are likely to serve in war, no matter how justified, is directly proportional to how they perceive how veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country. - George Washington

IDVC Vision:
By the Year 2010, the Iowa Democratic Veterans' Caucus will be the recognized voice for veterans and their families within the Iowa Democratic Party and IDVC will act as the voice of Democrats in the Veterans' community by setting the IDP legislative and policy agenda for issues affecting Veterans, their families and their communities.

The immediate goal of this group is to establish a network of county veterans' caucuses with a veterans' liaison as a function of the County's Democratic Central Committee. These county veterans' groups will work through the Districts' and state leadership to elevate issues affecting veterans and their families within the Iowa Democratic Party.

Consider this "Our Second Call to Duty"!

The Iowa Democratic Veterans' Caucus is supported in part through contributions to the Iowa Veteran's Victory Fund. http://www.actblue.com/page/idvc
